Newart Gallery's successful run of exhibitions at the Lansdowne Hotel continues with a showcase of two local artists
This month's show on the 16th and 17th, will feature the work of Leila Godden and Annalynn Cooke, two artists who draw inspiration from nature and landscape.
Bexhill-based Lelia Godden specialises in seascapes and abstract paintings, painted in acrylics. Her seascapes explore the vast panorama of changing light, dramatic weather and powerful water, framed by rocks solid with history, yet transient with time and the rhythm of the earth. The minutiae of rock pools juxtaposed against the expansive sweep of sea and sky. Here, she feels a completeness incorporating time and space, stillness and movement.
Annalynn Cooke works in a broad range of media, especially ink pen and water based inks on homemade rag paper. Her work is inspired mostly by botany, nature and architecture. It is also peppered with the influences of her keen interests in anthropology and astronomy.
All the art on display will be for sale, alongside several smaller pieces by local artists and works that have been carefully selected to compliment the main exhibits.
Entry is free and the exhibition runs from 10am - 5pm Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th at the Lansdowne Hotel, Eastbourne.
