The business was founded by John Whippy in 1970 and has helped and advised generations of clients with all their insurance requirements. It seems most Eastbournians have at some point been insured, or know someone who has been insured, by the brokerage over the years – be it their first car insurance or life assurance policy.
In 1988 John Whippy Insurance Brokers led the way with new technology becoming the first local insurance broker to be fully computerised. Moving forward 37 years, the business now trades with access to modern technologies to provide their clients with a seamless customer service and also assisting clients with rapid claims response.
John Whippy Insurance Brokers is now one of the few remaining truly independent insurance brokers not owned, appointed or managed by a larger organisation. Whilst specialising in property and business insurance, the brokerage also arranges and advises on all types of general insurance from home and life assurance to large commercial and contracting risks.
Five years ago, the John Whippy Foundation was set up and registered as a charity to help support sick, disabled and disadvantaged children living in East Sussex by way of fundraising events from quiz nights and charity walks to race nights and garden fetes. To date, over £12,000 has been raised helping support the activities of the Children’s Respite Trust and also Children with Cancer. A big thank you to everyone who has helped donate, take part and organised events that has then helped so many children in need of support.
